“Walk Thru Fire” syndicated for $10 million

Previously owned by a partnership that included trainer Jaime Gomez, Walk Thru Fire has been one of the most talked about stallions in Quarter Horse racing, thanks to a first crop featuring Kindergarten Futurity winner Gold Nugget Rd and Ed Burke Million winner Higher Fire. Prior to the purchase and syndicated for $10 million.

“My good friend Spencer Childers had never bought a share on a stallion in his life,” Allred added. “When he was 95-years-old he paid the money to be in this syndicate. I could have bought Walk Thru Fire, once for a couple of $100,000 dollars. Mike Abraham and I eventually ended up paying $8 million for him, but we are glad that we did.”

High-seller at the Los Alamitos Equine Sale was Hip 328, Dexter Morgan, a Walk Thru Fire colt for $157,000.

Ramiro Villarreal Guajardo purchased Dexter Morgan (Hip #328) for the sale-topping price. The sorrel colt is out of the outstanding broodmare Fames Easy, who over the years has produced the multiple Grade 1 stakes placed filly Miss Kittys Bar Bet ($264,188), Kindergarten Futurity runner-up and All American Derby qualifier Dont Dink With Me ($164,153), and Ynot Bar, runner-up in the Governor’s Cup Futurity, finalist in the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity, and a winner of $136,480.

“This horse will probably go to Texas,” said Villarreal Guajardo, who finished as the sale’s leading buyer after purchasing 11 horses for $331,800.

Dexter Morgan is named after the main character of the popular Showtime TV series “Dexter”.
